KEXP and the Debates make 3!

Hola mi amigos! Buenos noches...... (yeah, I'm a goofball) People at work think I'm bilingual because I know a few sayings. Ha! Crazy that I took spanish in highschool and college and both times got to a point where I completely got confused and gave up, verbs and making sentences. It all became backwards to me. I want to learn another language really bad. Ever since I saw the film "Lost in Translation" (shameless Cindy plug, 'this is a must see film per the Cindy-Tribune'). I think I'll have to pass on spanish and try something fresh and new. I'd love to learn Japanese, Mandarin, or German (so I can watch Run Lola Run without subtitles, grin).

God Bless Chris in the gump! He has found a listener supported radio station out of Seattle!!! http://www.kexp.org/ If the tv is not on I'm listening to this station on the internet in my little apartment. I wish that I could listen to it at work. The stuff that I like (or am familiar with) usually overlaps from the time I'm at work until about 6 or 7 pm. This morning they were playing some really good stuff........ So, I'm totally obsessed with this station now and my wish to go to Seattle has grown stronger.

I'M GOING TO VOO-DOO FEST!!!!!! Despite the fact that I don't have any money and my credit card has a pretty nice balance I slowly chip away at, I am going!!! I can't take sitting around all of the time. I don't go to movies, shop for clothes (thanks for talking me into that two for one sweater sale Monica), buy cds, go out to eat, ......nothing. All because I struggle as it is to live paycheck to paycheck. And living alone again has made me rip through any savings that I had. Sigh. But 'garsh-darnit' I deserve something! So I am going with Docia and Tony this weekend. The main reason I wanted to go is because the Pixies will be playing and I may never get this opportunity. Some other bands I am stoked (surfer lingo, that's what watching MTV will do to you) to see: Ambulance LTD, The Polyphonic Spree, Snow Patrol, Gomez, Sonic Youth, the Pixies, John Digweed, and the Beastie Boys. Docia supposedly has some super-fly gangster hats for us to wear to the event.

Halloween is just around the corner. I can't wait. It's such a creative day to me. I love to see friends and strangers being creative and dressing up for a day. Last year I went as LeeLoo from Fifth Element. This year I will go as Alice from Resident Evil:Apocolypse. Yeah, I have this Milla Jovovich thing going. If I can get this scanner (looks over to the left of my desk) to work maybe I'll email some pics from last year. If you're going to be in the Mobile area on the 31st feel free to say hello, but keep in mind that I'll drop kick you if you're dressed as a zombie............sly grin.

The third presidential debate was tonight. I watched the first, missed the second, and watched the third. But I am still undecided and really don't like either candidates. I got all pumped up about voting and got re-registered and now I'm left with no resolution. Post your thoughts on the candidates. I'd be interested in what you have to say.

hey cindy,

my wife is also undecided but my mind has been made up since the last election and the election before and pretty much since i registered to vote for the first time when i was 18 in pensacola. i am a die hard republican and vote for the republican candidate pretty much no matter what. therefore, i say vote for bush. at least you know what you're getting and know that what he says and does are the synonymous. at least you know what bush will and will not do. he's not quite as conservative on some issues as he should be and a little too conservative on others but he's my choice.

by the way, have fun at the voo doo fest. isn't that in new orleans? i thought i've heard local stations giving out tickets and trips to it. anyway, talk to you later cindy.

oh, i forgot to say something else. seattle is awesome!! my brother in law lives in portland, oregon and this summer we went up to see him. while there, we took a road trip up to seattle and then to vancouver, canada. that is the most beautiful part of the country that i've ever seen and i've been to many places. cindy, you would absolutely love it up there. by the way, when you go go to pike's place market to the first ever starbucks (i know that's touristy but it's cool) and go to the red mill hamburger stand in north seattle. it's a little hole in the wall that we found in a tourist guide book but the best hamburger i've ever had!! anyway, i would love to live in portland and maybe one day i will but you would definitely love seattle. i can't wait to hear what you think about it when you do go.

Cindy,

It's time for some tough love here concerning politics. At the same time (since it is hard to communicate tone), I am telling you the tone of this email is LIGHT but strait. If we were having a conversation, it would be plesant. However, I am not going to let you get away with being "undecided".

If the two canidates were close in their views I might could understand an undecided, but these two canidates are diametrically oppposite. This contest is not about who you "like" as a person or anything like that. This contest is about who best can lead this country. This is not class favorite time.

Ask yourself, what makes a great leader? Which canidate has those qualities?
Here are some starters:
A leader is one...
1) who is strong, takes a stand and is not afraid of Monday morning quarterbacks.
2) whose record is a testimony to character
3) who is able to fight the enemy head on without fear to keep me and you safe
4) who has a vision that the average American can dream dreams and not rely on a government hand out
5)who believes in core values that makes America great.
There is only ONE choice in this contest.

Here is something I'd like to explore. Your fear. Why are you afraid to choose? Whichever you choose there will be consequences. Maybe you fear those consequences.

It's not that I'm just undecided, it's that I don't really like either one of the 'main' candidates. The past two elections I have know who I want without question. But something doesn't feel right about either Kerry or Bush. I had gotten all pumped about making a difference and making 'my' choice within the country's decision. I've read some online and then watched them during the debates, and they both seem crooked to me. Yeah, ofcourse politicians are crooked....but it seems that this time they are really bad. Gottah read more about the guys and some of the other parties cause I don't want to not vote. Maybe I'll post some of the platforms for Kerry and Bush later in the week and state things I agree and disagree with. That will serve for good discussion. What's funny is that most of the people I've spoken with are undecided too.........

Cindy,

Let's do this. Let's talk about issues from each canidate. That way you can decide which aligns most closely to your ideology. You pick the topic and we'll discuss. We've only got about 17 days to get you a canidate.=)

Languages:

I am all about people learning a different language. If you go to my site, you'll find a Chinese character analysis. It breaks down the characters into easy ways to remember them. Chinese is tonal (which means each syllable has its oen tone ie. high, mid, low, circumflex) so beware. You may think you are saying one word but with the wrong tone you are actually saying something else.

German. It's a great spit language. And when you save your pennies you can go order a brostwurst at a German restaurant. Well, you could proabably order a brostwurst without knowing German.
