The person laying the trail (which is called the hare) lays a trail using flour or chalk. Some marks let you know you are on trail, you are at an intersection and must decide which direction the hare went, you have reached the end of a false trail, and so on. The pack (or hounds) take off 5-10 minutes after the start and try to make the right decisions based on the marks to hopefully snare the hare. How's that?

i'll ask the obvious...what are the marks? or am i just hopelessly oblivious?
